The owners of this two-family townhouse wanted to focus on one floor at a time as they sought to recreate their living space.

 

The first floor taken on was the parlor, which included the complete reconfiguration of the kitchen, with a new sliding glass door to the backyard deck, a new powder room, and a hall closet and dining room buffet. 

 

The big change came in the kitchen, where the footprint was rotated and the storage and countertop doubled in size, all while keeping an open feeling between the yard, kitchen, and dining room behind.
